Yeah, I think the chili recipe works best if you let it simmer for at least an hour. I usually start with ground turkey instead of beef — it's a little leaner but still takes all the spices really well. Did you try adding a splash of coffee? That was the hint my neighbor gave me and it actually deepens the flavor. I'm not a huge fan of spicy food so I go easy on the cayenne, but if you want heat you could throw in a diced jalapeño. The beans are totally optional; some people swear by kidney beans, others like black beans. I just use whatever I have in the pantry. Oh and don't forget the oR7JWtyVLVQIK smoked paprika — it makes all the difference. Let me know how yours turns out.

Hey, I finally got around to trying that new hiking trail you mentioned. The parking lot was almost empty at 7am, and the first mile had this gradual climb through some beautiful pines. I saw three deer near a creek around the halfway point. The summit view was worth the whole effort — you could see the entire valley. I packed way too much water but it was fine. The trail markers were clear, but I’d still download a map just in case. The bugs weren’t bad, but I used spray anyway. If you go in the afternoon, take sun protection because a lot of the trail is exposed after the treeline. I’ll definitely do it again.
