Weekly Recap

Boys Soccer had their exciting post-season run come to an end on Sunday when they hosted West Potomac in the region semifinal match.  The Stallions jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first and while they fought off the Wolverine attack for the rest of the first half and much of the second, the West Potomac offensive eventually found the goal to tie it up.  Shortly after they scored again to take a 2-1 lead.  With only 5 minutes left it appeared the Stallions may be done but in exciting fashion they tied the game up and sent it into overtime.  In the first set of overtime periods it appeared the home team may have taken the game on a beautiful free kick by Diego Ramos that hit off the inside of the crossbar and deflected straight down.  The officials called it off however, indicating that it never crossed the line.  The game went into the second overtime frame and to the disappointed of the large home crowd, the Wolverines managed to slip a goal in and end the Stallions season.  Congratulations to our boys on an incredible post-season run!

Outdoor Track & Field travelled to Newport News Friday and Saturday for the state meet and saw multiple athletes place in the top 8!  For the girls, Amiyah Curry took 3rd in the long jump and earned All-State Honors with a jump of 18' 11" while India Young finished 6th in the triple jump.  On the boys side, Andrew Desir finished 5th in the 200m dash and 8th in the 100m dash.  Congratulations to everyone on a great season!

Look out for a full run-down of Stallion athletic achievements this season next week!
