That sound you hear is the drug industry breathing the slightest sigh of relief. Top Republican senate appropriators signaled at a hearing today that there is no appetite for a third reconciliation bill later this year. Whispers among industry sources suggested that may have been an avenue for the administration's push to codify 'most favored nation' deals agreed to last year.

Of course, nothing is ever really dead on Capitol Hill. But as near-term policy fights shift to China deals, the latest reconciliation update is, at least for now, welcome news for pharma.
