The Sentencing Council has launched a consultation on proposed amendments to the Imposition of community and custodial sentences guideline as a result of legislative changes to sentencing in the Sentencing Act 2026.
On 23 June 2026, the Council will be publishing data collected from magistrates' courts covering the factors taken into account when sentencing adult offenders for breach of a suspended sentence order, breach of a community order and breach of a protective order (where the principal offence).
