Police have charged an 18-year-old Toronto man for allegedly shooting at the U.S. consulate in March, an early-morning attack that U.S. investigators had previously tied to a broader terrorism network.

On Thursday, Toronto Police arrested Sheldon Tracy-Stewart and charged him with 11 counts, including discharging a firearm, illegal firearm possession and vehicle theft.

Police allege that Mr. Tracy-Stewart fired a handgun at Toronto’s U.S. consulate on March 10, “that was likely to endanger the life” of Consul-General Baxter Hunt.

|
There were no reported injuries in the shooting, but investigators said at the time they were treating the case as a national security incident.
|
|
|
On Thursday, a Toronto Police officer was shot and killed during a raid related to the ongoing consulate investigation. The force has identified the slain officer as Constable Marc Pinizzotto, a 43-year-old member of the Emergency Task Force.
