There’s still time to apply for the Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program. Eligible pediatric providers can receive up to $100,000 in loan. Participants must commit to three years of full-time service at an approved facility.

Q. Who can apply for the Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program? A. Applicants must meet these basic requirements:
- A United States citizen, national, or permanent resident
- Fully licensed or credentialed in an eligible discipline
- One of the following:
- A full-time employee or a clinician who has accepted a position on or before June 30, 2026 at a Pediatric Specialty LRP-approved facility located in or serving a health professional shortage area, a medically underserved area, or a medically underserved population.
- A health professional entering or receiving training in an accredited pediatric medical subspecialty, pediatric surgical specialty residency, or fellowship at a Pediatric Specialty LRP-approved facility located in or serving a health professional shortage area, a medically underserved area, or a medically underserved population.

Q. How can my facility become a PS LRP-approved facility? A. Your facility can become Pediatric Specialty LRP-approved if it meets the following eligibility requirements:
- Located in a health professional shortage area (HPSA) or medically underserved area (MUA), or serves a medically underserved population (MUP)
- Operates as outpatient or inpatient facilities, providing primary medical, dental, and/or mental and behavioral health services.
Q. Is the Pediatric Specialty LRP award taxed? A. Yes. HRSA will deduct federal income taxes and Social Security and Medicare contributions from your award. Depending on where you live, the award payments may also be subject to state and local income taxes. Review page 29 of the Application and Program Guidance to learn more about Pediatric Specialty LRP award taxes and financial information.
Q. My start date for my job is after the application cycle. Am I currently eligible?A. No. You must be working or training at a Pediatric Specialty LRP-approved facility by the application deadline of June 30, 7:30 p.m. ET in order to be eligible.
Q. I am currently employed at a PS LRP-approved facility. Can my service commitment be backdated? A. No. The service period cannot be retroactive. You will be notified of your contract start date and service period if you are selected for an award.
