Eight people are presumed dead after a B-52 bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The B-52 Stratofortress was on a “routine test mission” and went down shortly after its takeoff, according to a 412th Test Wing of the Air Force statement. “Initial indications are that the crash was not survivable,” officials said, adding that the cause is under investigation.
