Word that Roku was looking for a buyer trickled out on Friday, so the investment bankers were clearly working overtime this weekend. The biggest question I have about this deal is what this means for Roku's position as a neutral player in this business. I've been a longtime user of Roku, and have gotten used to its reliable, if a little dated, user interface. But what I can appreciate about Roku's platform is it's the Switzerland of media. It's a similar dynamic to Imax, which we previously wrote would have difficulty finding a buyer among the studios or theaters because its relationships with every player is what makes it strong.
