This weekend marked 10 years since a shooter killed 49 people and wounded 58 others at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, FL.
Tomorrow marks 11 years since a hate-fueled shooter killed 9 people in a prayer circle of Black people while they prayed at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, SC.
Just last month, we mourned yet another hate-fueled shooting when 3 people were shot and killed at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
Tragically, in an average year, over 25,000 hate crimes in the United States involve a firearm — 69 each day. And reports indicate that hate-motivated violence is on the rise.
Hate is deadly when armed with a gun.
And yet in parts of the US, even some people convicted of hate crimes can still legally buy or possess guns.
It is more important than ever that states and the federal government pass laws ensuring that anyone who has committed a hate crime cannot arm their hate with a gun.
Inaction from our leaders is unacceptable. Help Everytown for Gun Safety call for stronger gun safety laws to Disarm Hate. Sign the Disarm Hate petition today.
