| | Hi Awh, Qantas was founded on a single belief: that Australia's distance from the world should never stand in the way. Today, I feel proud to announce the most significant step in that mission in our 105-year history. From October 2027, Qantas will fly between London and Sydney non-stop, daily, for the first time ever, saving you up to four hours compared with the fastest one-stop service today. Flights go on sale in February. When they do, you will be among the first to know. This route has been known as the Kangaroo Route since 1947 when it took seven stops to get there. Since then, every generation of our aircraft has removed a stop from that journey, with Project Sunrise removing the last one. The project takes its name from Qantas' flights that crossed the Indian Ocean during the Second World War, navigating journeys so long that those on board would see the sun rise twice. It felt like the right name for what we have been building toward. The Airbus A350-1000ULR joining our fleet next year was designed specifically for these flights, and the entire onboard experience has been reimagined for ultra long-haul travel. Working with the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney, every cabin element is grounded in the science of what your body needs, with lighting calibrated to your destination's time zone to help with jetlag, a world-first Wellbeing Zone and a service tailored around rest and recovery. For all our passengers, this marks a new dawn of travel. Thank you for believing in what Qantas is capable of, and for flying with us through the years it has taken to get here.
