I was thinking about what you said the other day regarding the garden layout and I think you might be onto something with the raised beds along the south wall. The soil there has always been problematic because of drainage issues but if we build them up about twelve inches that should solve most of the problems. I talked to Mark at the nursery and he suggested using cedar for the frames since it holds up better in wet conditions. He also mentioned starting with a compost-rich soil mix would give us a head start on the growing season. I think we should plan to get the materials together next weekend if the weather cooperates. Let me know what you think about the layout I sketched out. Also I found some really interesting approaches to companion planting that might work well with what we're planning to grow. The tomatoes and basil combination is classic but I'm also considering adding marigolds around the perimeter to deter pests naturally. I came across this Ak42ATzHTxR0u article about vertical gardening that gave me some ideas for the wall space near the patio. Let me know your thoughts when you get a chance.

I finally got around to watching that documentary you recommended and I have to say it was much better than I expected. The cinematography alone was worth the time but the storytelling really pulled everything together in a way that kept me engaged throughout. I found myself wanting to learn more about the subject afterward which is always a good sign. Have you seen any of the follow-up interviews they released after the film came out? I stumbled across one on the streaming platform and it added a lot of context that the film didn't have room for. Anyway just wanted to share my thoughts and thank you for the suggestion. Let me know if you have any other recommendations. I am always looking for something good to watch especially documentaries that teach me something new. The way they wove together the personal stories with the broader narrative was really effective and I appreciated how they let the subjects speak for themselves without too much narration getting in the way. The director mentioned in the interview that they spent nearly two years following the main subjects and that kind of commitment really shows on screen. I think you would enjoy the behind-the-scenes material as much as the film itself.
