The trail conditions were better than expected given the recent rain. You asked about the route we took and I would recommend starting from the north lot since the southern approach has some washed out sections that are tricky to navigate. The elevation is steady but manageable and there are several good spots to rest along the way. We saw a variety of birds and the foliage was quite vibrant. The total distance was around six miles round trip with a moderate pace.
