I think the raised beds would work better along the south side where they will get full sun throughout the day.
We should plan for about six beds, each around four feet by eight feet, with a two-foot path between them.
Tomatoes and peppers in the back two rows since they need the most support and will grow tallest.
The herbs can go in the front row where they are easy to reach for daily harvesting.
We need to amend the soil with compost before planting anything to give them a good start.
I checked with the county extension office and they said the soil here tends to be a bit alkaline.
So we might need to adjust for acid-loving plants like blueberries if we decide to add those later.
The water access point is on the east side of the yard so we will need to run a hose line.
I can bring the cedar boards for the frames next weekend if that works for your schedule.
We should also think about a small central path using wood chips or gravel for drainage.
Let me know what you think about the layout and we can adjust before we start building the frames.
I also looked into getting a rain barrel for that side of the house to collect runoff.
It would connect to the downspout and give us a backup water source during dry weeks.
The whole project should take about two weekends once we have all the materials ready.

I checked the community room calendar and the third Saturday of next month is open for our potluck gathering.
The room holds about forty people comfortably so we should ask everyone to RSVP by the week before.
I was thinking we could do a signup sheet for dishes so we do not end up with all desserts and no main courses.
The kitchen has a fridge and a microwave but no oven so anything that needs reheating would need to be brought warm.
I can handle the pulled pork in a slow cooker if someone else brings buns and side dishes for the group.
We will need disposable plates and utensils unless we want to do cleanup with all the regular kitchen dishes.
The room has tables and chairs already set up so we just need tablecloths and a few simple decorations.
I can bring a couple of autumn centerpieces if we are doing it in mid-fall like we discussed last week.
Let me know if you want to coordinate the signup sheet online or if you would rather I handle it directly.
We should also plan for drinks and ice since the room only has a small sink and no cooler.
I can bring a large beverage dispenser and some lemonade mix if that works for everyone's tastes.
The cleanup crew usually needs to be out by nine so we should start wrapping up by eight thirty.
Let me know your thoughts on the menu and we can send out the invites soon.
