yeah I finally went up to Mount Rainier last weekend and it was incredible the sky was completely clear and you could see the peak from miles away we took the Skyline Trail which was about five and a half miles round trip the wildflowers were still blooming near the lower sections and there were these brilliant patches of purple and yellow a few marmots were sunning themselves on the rocks near the visitor center the trail got steep after Panorama Point but the views of the Nisqually Glacier made it totally worth it we stopped for lunch at a spot overlooking the valley and just sat there for almost an hour the air was so clean and crisp I had forgotten how good it feels to be up that high with nothing but mountains in every direction on the way down we saw a black bear off in the distance near a stream a ranger said they have been active this time of year Rt9LPdDMMS5 was really something special about that moment I can not quite describe definitely planning to go back in October when the larches turn gold

the bread I baked over the weekend turned out way better than expected I tried a new sourdough recipe that my neighbor gave me and it had this really nice crust with a soft chewy interior the starter took about a week to get active enough but once it started bubbling it was really satisfying to feed it every day I shaped the dough into a round boule and scored it with a simple cross pattern the oven spring was amazing and the kitchen smelled incredible for hours we had it with some olive oil and balsamic for dinner and then used the leftovers for toast the next morning with avocado and eggs my neighbor said the key is to let the dough cold ferment in the fridge overnight for better flavor development I think I will try adding some rosemary and sea salt next time a friend told me about a local bakery that does classes on weekends so I might sign up for that it has been a nice way to unwind after work actually
