Hey there,
Yesterday I shared the question I keep hearing from thoughtful, curious people everywhere — at my dinner table, in our flagship programs, from the 175k+ readers of our newsletter:
How do I get good at AI… without becoming someone I don't want to be?
A lot of you wrote back. I heard from people who truly want to embrace this technology, but who can't shake the worry that doing so means checking their conscience at the door.
I promised I'd show you what we built to answer that. So here is the heart of it.
For three years, my team and I have worked alongside more than 2,000 students in our flagship AI programs. We've immersed ourselves in their questions, their wins and their challenges — the overwhelm, the never-enough-time, the hard questions about jobs and ethics, the exhaustion with the hype and the doom. The same worries, again and again, from thoughtful people in every walk of life.
And the more we listened, the clearer one thing became:
Getting skilled at AI and being responsible with AI aren't two separate projects — to do it right, you have to be doing both at the same time.
Almost nobody teaches it that way. The techie-hype crowd will show you 1,001 tools and never once mention ethics. If you don’t buy the booster-ism, it often feels like your only choice is to boycott everything alongside the anti-tech luddites.
We recognized that there is a better way — something that is optimistic, cautious, skeptical and compassionate all at the same time. If you’ve been following IWAI for a while you’ve probably seen this mindset peek through in our work already.
Now, we’ve built something new — a fresh path to getting good at AI and staying true to yourself, shaped by everything those thousands of people taught us. It's drawn from years of teaching our students, and from everything we hear from the family and friends we love who are wrestling with all of this too.
We call the framework behind it C.A.R.E. — and each part answers a worry you might recognize from yesterday:
Current. AI changes weekly, and far too much learning quickly goes stale. We drink from the firehose so you don't have to, then teach you the handful of things that actually matter — current, clear, in plain English.
Actionable. Your time is precious — so we don't bore you with long-winded theory you'll never apply. Every lesson hands you a practical activity you can use that same day: a real project, not a concept to mull over. Confidence comes from doing, not watching.
Responsible. Safety and ethics are the foundation of every session, never bolted on at the end. What's safe to share and what isn't. When to trust AI, and when to double-check. This is the part that finally quiets the question — am I part of the problem?
Empowering. You leave thinking "I've got this." Capable, not intimidated. In control, not behind. No technical background required, ever — if you can use a web browser, you're ready.
Put all four together, every single lesson, and something shifts.
You stop drowning in the information firehose. You start getting real work done — and feeling good about how. And that question — am I doing this right, or am I just part of the problem? — finally goes quiet, because for the first time you can answer it with confidence.
You've become exactly the kind of person this technology needed all along: the calm one, the capable one, the one who brings a conscience into the room — and brings the people they love along with them.
That's the whole idea. And it's exactly what AI learning today is missing.
Here's why this matters to me personally. AI is probably the biggest technological shift any of us will live through. But to me, that's a distant second to the most important thing — building a better world for our loved ones and the people around us. Getting good at AI isn't the goal, it is the method. The goal is to give time back to the people you love, help your family and your community, and do work that genuinely makes life better.
That's the place we kept wishing existed. So we built it.
Tomorrow, we open the doors.
It's called Ethical AI Foundations, and it's a brand-new membership built entirely on the C.A.R.E. promise. I'll send you everything — what's inside, how it works, and how to join — first thing.
Keep an eye on your inbox. I've been waiting a long time to share this with you.
Talk tomorrow,
