Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is highlighting several data products the agency released during the month of June: Medicare Outpatient Hospital Provider Public Use Files – Annual Update The Medicare Outpatient Hospital datasets are provider-level datasets that include utilization and payments for outpatient services and procedures provided to Original Medicare (Fee-for-Service) beneficiaries by hospitals under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS). The latest data available are for calendar year 2024. Medicare & Medicaid Drug Spending Data – Annual Update The Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D & Medicaid Spending by Drug datasets provide prescription drug spending trends in the Medicare Part B and Part D programs as well as Medicaid. The datasets focus on average spending per dosage unit and change in average spending per dosage unit over time. Additionally, interactive dashboards allow users to visualize data and search for specific drugs. The annual update now includes data for calendar year 2024.
Medicare Part D & Medicaid Opioid Prescribing Data and Mapping Tools – Annual Update The Medicare Part D Opioid Prescribing Data and Mapping Tool and the Medicaid Opioid Prescribing Data and Mapping Tool are interactive, web-based visualization resources that present geographic comparisons of opioid prescribing rates. These tools now include data for calendar year 2024. Medicare Telehealth Trends – Quarterly Update The Medicare Telehealth Trends Data highlights trends in the use of telehealth services between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2025. The data allow for analysis of telehealth utilization by quarter, state, and various demographic characteristics. Medicare Enrollment – Monthly Update The Medicare Monthly Enrollment Public Use File and Medicare Enrollment Dashboard present counts of Medicare beneficiaries with hospital/medical coverage and prescription drug coverage by geographic area and now include enrollee counts for March 2026. |
