Why ‘Heated Rivalry' landed zero Emmy nominations

“Heated Rivalry” launched a worldwide phenomenon when it first premiered in November 2025. But despite the TV series’ massive popularity, it won’t be taking home any awards when the 78th Emmy Awards airs this September.

The Television Academy announced its full list of nominees on Wednesday for the upcoming awards show. Each year, there are always surprises and snubs. But one of the hottest series of the 2025-2026 season was always guaranteed to be excluded from the list, and it comes down to the Emmy Awards specific eligibility rules.

One of “Heated Rivalry’s” breakout actors, though, did receive a nod at the 2026 Emmys. Connor Storrie, who plays Russian hockey player Ilya Rozanov, was nominated for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for hosting “Saturday Night Live” in February. He faces Michael J. Fox, Brett Goldstein, Hamish Linklater, Christopher McDonald and Rob Reiner, who received a posthumous nomination for Season 4 of “The Bear.”

‘You're fire as is': Rihanna uplifts cancer patient in touching grocery store moment

Rihanna happened to be in the right place at the right time for an empowering moment.

The Grammy winner was shopping for an upcoming barbecue on Monday when she met a woman named Robyn, who is living with cancer.

2026 Emmy nominations: See the full list

And the nominees are…

HBO Max’s emergency room series “The Pitt” led nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards with 25, followed by the network’s other hit show “Hacks,” which led all comedies with 24. 

Past winners Liza Colón-Zayas of “The Bear” and Jeff Hiller of “Somebody Somewhere” and “Widow’s Bay” announced the nominees Wednesday at the Television Academy in Los Angeles.
