I’ve been charged with a felony.
Back in March, I went to Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin to document one of the largest direct action animal rescues in history… a facility breeding thousands of beagles for laboratory experimentation. A judge had already found probable cause of felony animal cruelty at that facility. A special prosecutor declined to charge them. Not one person who abused those dogs has faced a single charge.
Instead, they charged us. Me and over 50 others. Up to 12.5 years in prison.
Here’s the thing though. The rescue worked. Ridglan is shutting down. 1,500 dogs are already out, sleeping on couches, learning what grass feels like. Hundreds more come out in August.
