A committee of lawmakers advanced a new bill designed to support the Alaska LNG megaproject that applies the state’s corporate income tax to private oil and gas producers and transporters, but exempts the gas line project from that tax.

If developers of the proposed gas pipeline move forward with the project, they will ask Alaskans for something between a few hundred million and a billion and a half dollars.

Police have identified a man and woman found dead last month in a burned vehicle in East Anchorage and also confirmed that the remains of a dog were found with them.
