Principal's Message
Dear Families,
If you are new to MRES, this is our weekly newsletter where we provide school and PTA information to families. While we still have many days of summer fun and sun remaining (so don’t panic or hang in there - whichever applies), there are a few simple items for your consideration below. We hope you have or will be able to enjoy some down time be it a trip, staycation, time at pools or parks, ice cream etc.

School Events and Information
Kindergarten Registration
Do you have a kindergartener who is not yet registered or know someone who does?!?! If so, please email registrar Shelly Koshuta at mmarcumkoshu@fcps.edu or call the office at 703-937-1500. We held our Kindergarten Orientation in May and completed a simple assessment to see what strengths our incoming students are bringing to kindergarten. If you were unable to attend in the spring, please consider joining us on August 6th for this simple assessment. Details in flyers. English Spanish

Kindergarten/New Student Tours and Playdates
We will be holding school tours for new MRES families on Tuesday, July 28 at 3:00 pm and on Thursday, August 6 at 9:00 am. The PTA will be sponsoring a playdate with popsicles on the playground following the tours. We hope you can join us!
Student Online Verification/Update (OVU)
The 2026–27 Online Verification/Update (OVU) packet will be available in ParentVUE beginning July 24. The OVU packet allows parents to electronically update phone numbers, emergency contacts, health conditions, and upload immunization records for their students. If you have not already done so, please sign up for a ParentVUE account so you can have direct access to student information.

School Supplies
School supply lists can be found on our school website. Supplies can be brought to classrooms during Open House or on the first day of school. Supplies ordered through the PTA will be delivered to classrooms prior to the first day of school.

FCPS Communications
School Is Out. Summer Meals Are In!
This summer, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide free, nutritious meals to all children 18 years of age and younger from June 22 - August 21.
No registration, application, or proof of income is required. Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and children must remain onsite while eating.

- Breakfast: 9:00 - 10:00 am
- Lunch: 12:00 - 1:00 pm

Free Back-to-School Immunizations and Physicals
