Wanna Chat About the Next 20 Years of Transportation in Arlington?

Over the last two years, your feedback has helped create a draft Multimodal Transportation Plan to guide planning for the next 20 years. Explore the draft plan, including proposed policies, strategies, transportation network guidance, and curb lane priorities, and share your thoughts online or at an upcoming event.

We want to hear from you... in person!

Meet with the planning team at two events in August to go through your questions.

  • Thursday, August 6 (this week), 12:30-3:30 p.m. at Aurora Hills Library
  • Wednesday, August 19, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Arlington Mill Community Center Room 132

This is your last opportunity to help shape the plan before it is presented to the County Board. Share your feedback by August 23 and learn more at arlingtonva.us/TransportationFuture

The last day to give your feedback online is August 9.

Wilson Boulevard Streetscape Improvements Project Update

DES-PTW Crop

The Wilson Boulevard Streetscape Improvements project team will begin work for the project no sooner than August 24, starting with tree protections and street markings in anticipation of digging and intensive work.

What to Expect During Construction

During construction, crews will close lanes and sidewalks, relocate bus stops, and install detours. Sign up for ART Alerts to stay informed about bus service updates. Read signs carefully and proceed with caution through the project area.

More information about disruptions will be shared on the project page.

About the Project

The project has three main goals, which we cover in this video.

  • Bury utilities: Remove utility poles from sidewalks, bury and upgrade utilities below the road, and upgrade signals and streetlights
  • Sidewalk improvements: Widen sidewalks within the project limits to match improvements already completed west of North Kenmore Street
  • Intersection improvements: Remove the slip lane on Wilson Boulevard approaching 10th Street North, and on 10th Street North turning left onto Wilson Boulevard to improve predictability and reduce confusion between drivers and pedestrians.

Learn more on the project page.
