The light in your room is sabotaging your sleep Your brain doesn't know the difference between your kitchen LED and midday sun. For most of human history, night meant firelight, moonlight, candlelight. Warm. Dim. Red-spectrum. That was the signal your brain used to start winding down. Now you spend your evenings under 4000–6500K LED lighting. Cool. Bright. Blue-spectrum. Your suprachiasmatic nucleus, the part of your brain running your circadian clock, reads that as daytime and starts to suppress melatonin on the spot. No melatonin, no proper wind down. Recovery gets delayed. Do it every night for years and the biological toll adds up. Putting your phone away at 9pm doesn't fix this. Your kitchen lights, bathroom LEDs and TV backlight are still working against you.
