You take the exact same shape and slide it to a different spot on the fretboard.
The chord changes...
The shape never does.
And that one chord you were vamping on stops sounding like one chord.
More upbeat...
More interesting...
And honestly, a lot more fun to play than the same shape over and over again.
Now, if you’re wondering whether you can pull these into your lead playing, the answer is absolutely.
A lot of professional guitar players do exactly that.
So at the end I take the A minor pentatonic and pepper these shapes right into the licks.
It sounds pretty pro.
And your playing stops sounding like it lives in one spot on the neck.
