Good morning, Chicago.

A woman apparently drowned Sunday evening in the Des Plaines River at a Lake County Forest Preserve in Libertyville, according to local authorities.

The woman went underwater at about 7 p.m. in the river at the Independence Grove Forest Preserve. According to Forest Preserves Police Chief Ron Davis, the woman went into the water to assist her son.

After helping the boy reach another family member, the woman went underwater. A family member and others nearby helped pull her from the water. Read the full story.

Years before corpses found at South Side funeral home, owners left decomposing bodies in van: police

An Evergreen Park police officer was immediately suspicious in June 2024 when he found a Chrysler minivan with two canvas-wrapped, clearly decomposing corpses inside and a “horrible stench” wafting from within.

The typical family van — which bore no indication it belonged to a funeral home — was double-parked on a residential street at nearly 2 a.m.

Restaurant review: Mister Tiger, Korean home cooking in West Town that’s not your grandma’s galbi

Mister Tiger, a Korean restaurant that opened as an ode to a grandmother’s home cooking, has become a new chef’s culinary coming of age.

Min Lee co-owns the business, which debuted in West Town in May 2025, with her brother Charlie Park and her husband, Brian Lee.

Park, a product manager, also leads the bar program and front of the house. Brian Lee, an attorney, oversees operations. Chef Min Lee was previously a structural engineer.

“I grew up with my grandma, eating her food,” she said of Bong Kim, who cooked and cared for the family after they emigrated from Busan, the seaside city in South Korea. “I just wanted to bring that to Chicago.”
