Shooting wildlife? Expose for the highlights — white feathers and bright fur especially — and lift the shadows later. Blown highlights are the one thing Photoshop can’t give back.

Try This
Before you composite, sample a palette: pull four or five colors from your base image and keep every element you add inside them. Unified color is what makes an image feel painted — not pasted.

Try This
Fighting a tricky selection? Rough it in with any tool, then refine by painting directly on the mask with a soft brush at low flow. A mask is just a grayscale painting — treating it like one beats hunting for the perfect one-click tool.
