I keep meaning to respond to your note about the weekend hiking plan but somehow the week just slid away from me. The trail you mentioned sounds honestly perfect and I think the earlier start time is the right move given how warm it has been getting by midday.
I did look up the route description you sent and the elevation gain actually seems pretty manageable even for someone like me who hasn't been out much this spring. The section along the ridge looked particularly nice in the photos someone posted last month.
If we do end up going I can bring along some extra water and maybe a few snacks that are easy to pack. I still have those energy bars from the last trip sitting in the pantry and I should probably use them before they get too crumbly.
One question though, are we thinking of doing the full loop or just going out and back to the overlook? The full loop might add an extra hour or so and I want to be sure I pace myself accordingly.
Anyway let me know what you think and whether Saturday actually works. I have a couple of things I could shuffle around if Sunday ends up being better for everyone else.

Glad you asked about the garden beds because I have honestly been thinking about them non stop since the weather turned. The soil in the back corner still feels a bit compacted so I think we should probably turn it over once more before putting anything in the ground.
My neighbor has been growing tomatoes in containers for years and swears by a mix that is mostly compost with just a little bit of sand for drainage. I can ask them for the exact ratio if you want to try something similar this year.
The herbs should probably go in first since they seem to handle the cool mornings better and honestly they are the most forgiving if you forget to water them for a day or two. After that we can think about peppers and maybe some climbing beans along the fence.
I also found a few old seed packets in the shed and most of them are still within their planting window, though a couple of the lettuce varieties look like they might be past their prime so probably best to grab fresh ones.
If you are free this coming weekend I can come by in the morning and we can map out where everything should go before we start digging. Let me know what works.
