Hey, it's Mark.
Happy Sunday!
As you enjoy your family today and hopefully some much-deserved relaxation, I just wanted to share some wisdom I've been thinking about this week...
I spent a ton of time with my team this week dialing in some critical processes.
I was explaining why it was so important and Ecclesiastes 10:10 came to mind: "If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but wisdom brings success."
It's the same thing Lincoln was getting at when he said if he had five hours to chop down a tree, he'd spend four sharpening the axe.
I told my team, we teach our clients how to use leverage, so we need to do the same thing. I don't want to just swing harder and harder. We need to use wisdom to get more out of everything we do.
The same thing happens in investing. People always ask me how much they should invest, what specific things they should buy, what exchanges they should use...
They want to jump right to the fun part where they see the number in their account go up. They want to start swinging the axe.
But I always start with the same question: What's the goal? Where are we actually trying to go, and how long do we have to get there?
You've heard me use the GPS analogy before. I know it can sound simple. That's exactly why people brush past it.
But you need to start with the right plan. The right strategy. Building the right foundation based on your own goals and needs. Which is where wisdom comes in.
So I encourage you to think about that today. Take a few minutes to think about what you truly want.
Sharpen the axe. Let wisdom lead the action.
Talk to you next week.
