Why Walmart finally started accepting tap to pay
Tap to pay is coming to in-store checkout at select Walmart and Sam’s Club locations starting August 24, per a press release.
  • Shoppers can now check out via card, phone, or smartwatch.
  • Members can now also add their Walmart, Sam’s Club, and OnePay credit cards to mobile wallets.
All stores should accept tap to pay by year’s end, with gas stations to follow by mid-2027.

Consumers are willing to pay for longer BNPL plans help with big purchases
US shoppers are open to paying interest on installment plans when offered longer repayment periods, per a PYMNTS Intelligence report.
  • 2 in 3 buy now, pay later (BNPL) users say they’d accept interest fees in return for a longer repayment period.
  • BNPL users with the strongest credit scores are the most willing to accept this trade-off: 76% of super-prime users would accept interest fees for longer terms, compared with 64% of prime and 50% of subprime BNPL users.
