People who survived Nepal's deadly flash flood have recounted seeing their loved ones swept away by torrents of mud. Upcoming state elections in Saxony-Anhalt could potentially be a "watershed moment for Germany", writes Berlin correspondent Jessica Parker. The far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) is polling way ahead of other parties before the 6 September vote, and it's aiming to take a parliamentary majority in the eastern region. The formation of an AfD government would mark the first time a far-right party has held significant power in Germany in the post-war period. Jessica visited an election rally where she heard how the party's "patriotism agenda", including teaching children in schools less about Hitler, appeals to voters.
