A Message From The Principal

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fantastic 7th-grade Back to School Night last night; it was wonderful connecting with so many of our families! We are looking forward to keeping that great energy going and seeing all of our 8th-grade families tonight. As a friendly reminder, the program starts promptly at 6:00 PM, so please plan to arrive a few minutes early to make sure that you are in your child’s first period class and ready to go at 6:00PM.

Sincerely,

Principal Washington

Hearing & Vision Screenings

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Vision and hearing screenings for 7th grade students will be conducted during Health & P.E. classes on Wednesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 17, 2026. If your student wears glasses or contact lenses, please ensure they bring and wear them on the day of the screening.

Should the screening indicate a need for further evaluation, you will receive a notification letter with additional information.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the RCMS Health Room at (703) 925-3610 or reach out via email to:

Volunteer Opportunity: We are seeking parent volunteers to assist the School Health Aide and Public Health Nurse during the screenings. Training will be provided before each screening period. Study Help and Support in Schoology

Study Help and Support Available to Students in Schoology

A new Schoology Study and Support Hub is available for students in Schoology. This space was developed by the FCPS Educational Technology Team with input from students. It is designed to provide essential study tools and academic support resources directly to our learners.

Students can log in to Schoology and read their Schoology announcements or watch this video on the support hub for more information.

Fall Full-Time AAP Screening

Parents and teachers interested in referring students for the fall full-time AAP screening must submit a full-time AAP referral form to the school’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART) by October 16. 2026.  Fall 2026 screening is only available to students newly enrolled in FCPS after January 1, 2026, who were not screened in Spring 2026.

News From The Carson Library

Carson Librarians are thrilled to welcome your kiddos into the library as soon as school starts! Any panther is welcome to stop by to say hello, add a sticker to the sticker mosaic, or check out our brand new library furniture! Library orientation and checkout will occur through English classes starting on Wednesday, August 26 for 7th graders. 8th graders will pop in through English classes in early September, but 8th graders are welcome to swing by the library to checkout as early as the 1st day of school!

8th graders who checked out Carson Library books to read over the summer are expected to return them ASAP. Our new 7th graders deserve the most popular books to be back on the shelves for their first visits. If your child has a lot of books to return, please encourage them to bring two a day. All books need to be returned by Friday, August 28.

At the end of the 2025-26 school year, Carson librarians invited all rising 7th and 8th graders to participate in the just-for-fun Library Summer Bingo! If your child participated, please remind him or her to turn their bingo card into the library by Sept. 3. All who participate get a small prize and are entered into a drawing for a bigger prize.

ParentVUE Information

Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE. Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. It is available online and as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices. Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.

If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up to date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View additional details about ParentVUE.

Activate Your ParentVUE Account to Stay Connected

On Wednesday, July 29, FCPS families who haven't activated their ParentVUE account will receive an email with the subject “Fairfax County Public Schools ParentVUE Activation Letter.” The email will include instructions to activate a ParentVUE account. If you don’t have an account and don’t receive the email, please check your spam folder or submit a request for an activation key through our SIS Parent Assistance Form.

All families are encouraged to activate their accounts as soon as possible to ensure they receive immediate access to important student information and school communications.

New ParentVUE Mobile App Launches July 28

On Tuesday, July 28, a new ParentVUE mobile app became available in the Apple and Google app stores. This new app provides parents and caregivers with a more secure sign-in. The current “classic” app will remain active for about six months. Families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their child’s school data.

In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this security feature.

Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Parents needing assistance should submit a Parent Support Request.
