CORE Outbreak Investigation Table


The CORE Outbreak Investigation Table is a list of outbreak and adverse event investigations primarily being managed by FDA’s CORE Response Teams. The investigations are in a variety of stages, meaning that some outbreaks have limited information, and others may be near completion. The table will be updated weekly.

This week's updates are:

  • For the outbreak of Salmonella Newport (ref #1403), the case count has increased from 84 to 97 cases.
  • For the outbreak of E. coli (multiple strains) & Salmonella Agona (ref #1394), FDA updated the outbreak advisory on August 31, 2026, with Everything Sprouts, LLC’s recall expansion and additional investigational information.
  • For the outbreak of Salmonella I 4,[5],12:i:- (ref #1402), the case count has increased from 41 to 43 cases.
  • For the outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1398), FDA has initiated sampling.  
  • For the outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1392), the case count has been adjusted from 203 to 225 cases.
  • For the outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1390) linked to iceberg lettuce, FDA updated the outbreak advisory on August 27, 2026, with case count information.
  • For the outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1385), the case count has increased from 28 to 38. Additionally, the outbreaks of Cyclospora (ref #1375 and ref #1381) are being combined into Cyclospora (ref #1385) based on traceback information from FDA’s investigation.
  • For the outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg (ref #1387), FDA has initiated an inspection and sampling.
  • For the outbreak of Clostridium botulinum (ref #1383), the outbreak has ended. FDA updated the outbreak advisory on August 27, 2026, with sampling results and final investigational information. See the outbreak advisory for additional details.
  • For the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes (ref #1380) linked to Requeson/Soft Ricotta Cheese, FDA’s outbreak investigation has closed. FDA updated the outbreak advisory with final investigational information on August 26, 2026.
