Dear City of Fairfax Community,
As we settle into a new school year, I am reminded again of just how special this time of year is. There is an energy in our schools during these first few weeks that is hard to replicate. Students are reconnecting with friends, teachers are welcoming new classes, families are finding their routines, and staff members are working together to make sure every student has a strong start.
I had the opportunity to spend time in each of our four schools during the opening weeks, and I was incredibly proud of what I saw. Our principals, teachers, and staff put an extraordinary amount of work into preparing for the year, and that preparation was evident in the welcoming, positive environments throughout our schools.
The start of a school year is always busy, and there are inevitably a few adjustments along the way. But there is also so much to celebrate. I am grateful to our staff for the care and dedication they bring to their work, to our families for their partnership, to our community for its continued support of our schools, and to our students for the enthusiasm and energy they bring into our schools each day.
A new school year is full of possibility. It brings new opportunities, new challenges, and countless chances to learn, grow, take a chance, and try something new. That willingness to stretch ourselves, embrace new experiences, and keep moving forward is an important part of what makes our schools such special places.
I am excited about all that lies ahead this year and grateful to be part of a community that cares so deeply about its schools and students.
