Join us at our Back to School Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. There will be 2 sessions:
Session 1 6:00 - 6:40 p.m.
Session 2 6:50 - 7:30 p.m.
You will learn about your child's classroom, what topics your child will study this year, assessments your child will take, and get answers to questions that you may have.

2-Story Addition Progress:
Construction is moving along, but we won't be able to move into the new building after Labor Day. We do not have an updated timeline from the construction company.
Gym Updates:
A lot of work was done in the gym, however the construction team did not complete the full renovation process. There will be ongoing work next summer to complete the gym.
Kiss & Ride:
Kiss & Ride will stay as it is currently organized until the new cafeteria opens to our school community. At that time, we will update with changes in Kiss & Ride because the drop off will be moved from the current cafeteria to the new cafeteria. This means the drop off will be on the back side of the building at that time.
Bus Loop: Bus loop parking will remain with the allocated 3 spaces until Phase 3, anticipated in March, 2027. As we approach the Spring, we will update families with information about any changes to parking spaces, including the visitor parking spaces.
Behind-the-Scenes: Did you know that Bren Mar Park has two employees from FCPS Design & Construction who work on our site daily to support with problem-solving and ensuring that the construction team is fully informed of school needs and special events?
 BMP enjoy art in Mrs. Springfield's art class. We are looking forward to our new art classroom, which we will move into when we move into the addition.

Mustang artists have been working on getting their creativity flowing and learning art room procedures. We are very excited to be in our new space soon, but are taking the time to do some drawing projects while we await our new studio! Kindergarten artists have been talking about shapes and will draw self portraits. First grade artists will talk about how we can change the size of people to show members of our families in a family portrait. Second grade artists are introduced to the concept of overlapping in a portrait with a friend. Third grade artists are exploring culture and what they value and also learning facial proportion. Fourth grade artists are learning gesture drawing and how to properly draw the body in different poses. Fifth grade artists are learning contour or continuous line drawing skills.
Thank you so much to all the families who have donated to our art room using the amazon wish list. We had a record number of donations and this will allow the kids to have some extra fun materials and some nice things to make our new studio space extra special. Also, thanks to all who have donated paper towels and baby wipes, which we need throughout the year. I can’t wait to get to making messes soon in our new space!
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

Opt In or Out to Student Devices Being Sent Home for Grades 1-6
New this year, families can opt out of having student laptops sent home with their student.
- If you do not want your student to bring their FCPS-issued device home, please toggle the Opt Out button to a check mark and confirm by pressing Save Selection.
- If you would like your student to bring their FCPS device home, no toggle action is needed. Confirm by pressing Save Selection.
Students whose families opt out will continue to have access to an FCPS-issued device during the school day. Please reach out to your student’s teacher to understand expectations for homework and any learning activities that may require access to technology outside of the school day.
Thank you for your patience as we all get used to new routines this school year. We appreciate our families following Kiss and Ride procedures and being patient while waiting for your child’s bus.
If your child’s bus is delayed, you may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Email messages will be sent to announce significant bus delays. Please contact the Transportation Office at 703-446-2050 with any additional questions. For concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact the FCPS Office of Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.

No edible birthday treats are allowed due to allergies. We encourage families who wish to celebrate their child's birthday to do so in other ways, such as providing non-edible treats. It is important to communicate with your child's teacher to ensure anything sent in would not create a disruption to the classroom.
On July 16, 2026, the Fairfax County School Board directed the Superintendent to amend all device regulations, including Regulation 2601, the Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R).
During the instructional day, students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices. Personal devices include, but are not limited to:
- Personal laptops
- Personal tablets
- Smartphones
- Smartwatches
- Other personal electronic communication or devices
The requirement does not apply when a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), or Section 504, outlines device requirements.
The updated Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) includes new Universal Grade Matrices outlining behavior expectations and responses for grades K-3 and 4-8. Every FCPS student who rides a school bus will receive an identification card. Bus riders will be expected to tap their cards when boarding and exiting each day. Because not all students will receive an identification card, this process will not apply to bus use for special events such as field trips.
Families can currently use "Here Comes the Bus" to monitor bus arrival times. There will be a new app coming this fall called "FCPS My Ride." More information will be coming from the department of transportation as the transition to the new app approaches.
