Over the last two days I've told you about a piano recital.

Three months alone in a room. Then one afternoon in front of real people that taught me more than the three months combined.

I said I'd tell you why that matters so much to me, and I will, properly, in a few days.

But first I want to show you something, because for a long time I genuinely wondered if I was reading too much into my own story.

Maybe it was just me. Maybe I'm just someone who needs an audience to concentrate.

So I started paying closer attention to what StoryLearning VIP students actually say, once they're a few weeks in.

And the same shift keeps showing up. Over and over.

In completely different words, from people who've never heard my piano story and have no reason to be telling it back to me.

Here's Ché, learning Italian:

"A course alone will never teach you to speak a language. You absolutely need a more rounded approach, which is exactly what VIP is."

Here's Richard, on Spanish:

"I've got increased confidence in learning Spanish."

Rich, also learning Italian, put it like this:

"Listening, reading, and doing the exercises in each chapter works. I love it."

And Celia, who's proof this isn't a young person's game, learning Italian at seventy:

"I'm actually learning Italian, even at 70 years old."

None of these people know each other. They're learning different languages, at different ages, for different reasons.

But underneath all of it is the same thing I felt walking into that recital hall.

Something changes the moment another person is actually in the room with you.

Not a textbook. Not an app giving you a green tick.

A person, responding to you, in real time.

It's the difference between practising the notes and actually playing them.
