American luxury house St. John has made some exceptionally intriguing decisions when it comes to the face of its brand. For example, Angelina Jolie was synonymous with the company throughout the aughts, while Shonda Rhimes was its face for much of 2023. Now Ms. Tina Knowles is joining that list, and at a crucial time for the company, just as it embarks on a creative relaunch. Amazingly, this is the first-ever solo campaign for the 72-year-old fashion designer/mother to Beyoncé and Solange. She tells Vanity Fair’s José Criales-Unzueta all about what it took to get there. And, of course, we have much more for you this weekend: Elise Taylor has an exclusive look at Skywalker Grill, the restaurant inside The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, while David Friend mulls 9/11’s impact on the media ecosystem (for good and ill). And don’t forget to check back in with our fall film festival liveblog, where our on-the-ground-team has the latest from Venice and TIFF. |
