Staff Appreciation Volunteers Needed
The PTA is looking for 1 volunteer each month to help coordinate staff appreciation activities. Choose a month that works for you and help make our teachers and staff feel valued!
The PTA has ideas for each month, but those can be changed. Work with Principal Cope to create meaningful experiences. PTA will provide guidance and resources along the way.

Want to Volunteer at HWES? Get Cleared Now!
Interested in chaperoning a field trip, reading with your child’s class, or helping with a student event or club?
FCPS requires parents/guardians to register for the appropriate volunteer clearance level before participating.

Sign up at Volunteer FCPS
If you registered with FCPS last year as a volunteer, you do not need to complete the process again.
If you were registered at another FCPS school, and have recently joined the HWES community, you will need to log in to your volunteer account and sign up at HWES (you do not need to complete the application again). Once you make that selection, the school will be able to transfer you into their system.

Join the PTA, there’s a place for you!
Joining the PTA is one of the easiest ways to support our students, connect with other families, and be part of what’s happening at school. Annual PTA dues and donations help support PTA events throughout the school year.
Give a little time, a lot of time, or simply become a member. Every family, every voice, and every level of involvement matters.
Membership renews each year, so even if you were a member last year, we could use your support again!

Food 4 Thought: Volunteer Time or Donate to our Pantry
Food 4 Thought is a PTA-sponsored initiative to help students in need with healthy, shelf-stable food for the weekends and school-day snacks.
Volunteer: Help deliver food bags and snacks to classrooms. This volunteer opportunity is primarily on Friday mornings prior to the start of school and takes only 15 minutes. Sign up to volunteer.
Donate to our Pantry: Check out our Amazon wish list. Donations can be dropped off in the box outside the main office, or Amazon purchases can be shipped directly to the school (choose the Food 4 Thought gift registry address).
Our most needed pantry items include:
- Gift cards to grocery stores, Costco, or Amazon
- Shelf-stable white milk (single servings)
- Single-serve vegetarian meals/soups
