Hana Bank has issued a $100 million digital bond through Euroclear's D-FMI distributed ledger platform, marking the first time a Korean company has used this platform. The ECB has introduced Pontes, a system that enables settlement of tokenized assets in central bank money, addressing a major barrier to blockchain adoption. Thirteen institutions, including Deutsche Bank and Santander, are ready to use Pontes, which initially operates within existing market hours but aims for 24/7 settlement by 2028. The ECB also plans to invest in tokenized securities through Pontes.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig told the US Treasury Market Conference that the agency is preparing markets for mass tokenization, onchain finance and 24/7 trading while adapting frameworks for blockchain and AI. "I believe tokenization can do the same for all asset classes" as electronic trading did for markets, Selig said, adding that expanded trading hours should be approached based on the characteristics of individual asset classes.
