Connect and Learn at Our First Parent Café
Greenbriar East administration and Ms. Kwon, our family liaison, are partnering to offer Parent Cafés throughout the school year. These gatherings are an opportunity for families to connect, ask questions, and learn more about resources and support available at GBE.

Chantilly High School Homecoming Parade & Football Game
Join the Chantilly community for Homecoming this Friday, September 25! GBE families are invited to enjoy the Homecoming Parade and cheer on the Chargers at the varsity football game.

Homecoming Parade: 4:30-5:30 p.m. The parade begins at Greenbriar Shopping Center and ends at Greenbriar West Elementary School.

Chantilly Varsity Football vs. Langley: Gates open at 6 p.m., and the game begins at 7 p.m.
GBE School Picture Day: Thursday, October 1
Thursday, October 1, is School Picture Day! Barksdale Photography will be at GBE to take student portraits.
Order forms will be sent home in your child’s Wednesday Folder. Additional order forms will be available in the front office. Families may also order school pictures online through Barksdale.

If you are ordering a picture package, your child should bring the completed payment envelope or online order receipt on picture day. Please do not send picture money to school before October 1.
Picture Day Volunteers Needed
We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help with Picture Day next Thursday from 9:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Gracie Larrick at gelarrick@fcps.edu.
Get Involved at GBE: Watch D.O.G.S. Orientation
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) provides an opportunity for fathers and father figures to volunteer at school and be a positive presence in our GBE community.
Interested in learning more? Join us for our Watch D.O.G.S. Orientation on Thursday, October 1, at 7 p.m. Come learn about the program, what volunteers do during their time at GBE, and how to sign up.
Connect with Our GBE Military Community
If you currently serve in the military or have served in the past, please join us on Friday, October 2, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for pizza, refreshments, and an opportunity to connect with other members of our GBE military community.

Early Release Wednesdays: Child Care Plans
Our first Early Release Wednesday is October 21. To help us plan for students who will need child care, please update your family's plans in SIS ParentVUE. Parents and caregivers can use the Online Verification/Update (OVU) packet to indicate whether their child will need child care on the early release Wednesdays this school year.
- Open the SIS ParentVUE Account Access page and enter your username and password.
- Select ‘Online Packets’ at the top right corner. The ‘Select a Packet to Begin’ page will display.
- Select the Online Verification/Update packet.
If your plans change during the school year, please contact the school directly to update your child’s child care needs.
Body Safety Program
The Body Safety Program is scheduled to take place at Greenbriar East ES the week of October 19 for grades Pre–K to 6th grade. If you would like to opt your child out of this program, please make sure to send in a signed opt-out form (English/Spanish) no later than October 9th, 2026, to Ms. Tamakloe. Please note that Rylynn, a Department of Family Services Facility Dog, will be on-site Friday.
Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are both gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.
New information, including printable flyers, has been added under the heading Supporting 2e Learners in FCPS.
