Board directs Release of Police-Involved Shooting Video by October 16Reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and public trust, and in full respect of the ongoing criminal investigation and any subsequent administrative investigations that may arise, the Arlington County Board has directed the County Manager to release video of the May 8th police-involved shooting that resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Shawn Valn by or before Friday, October 16th. The County Manager and public safety staff are actively working with a third-party specialist to prepare a video package that clearly depicts the key events and timeline of the incident. Should the footage not be available by October 16th, the County Manager and Chief of Police will provide a public update on the status of the release at the October 17th Regular Board meeting. The County Manager will also provide a public update on the Arlington County Police Department’s Directive on Release of Information, which covers the release of body-worn camera footage. The Chief of Police will publish a draft of this document for public feedback. The Office of the Independent Policing Auditor is being and will continue to be consulted on this document prior to its adoption. ### Media ContactDavid Barrera
