In a recent interview on how to make meaningful art, Rick Rubin said something that deeply resonated with me:

“You take things to the extreme that are indefensible. Reason is only a tiny sliver of how decisions are made, and I’d be much more in the camp of being guided by intuition.”

This is not just tactical advice. It’s a way of seeing the world.

And it points at something that’s often overlooked besides all the how-to tutorials and social media noise.

As artists, we have to learn how to live an artistic life. Even if we have a day job, a family, other obligations.

Doing things that are “indefensible” means taking a risk with our music.

Making decisions based on intuition means shutting down the tutorial-brain and getting in tune with what’s deeply inside of us.

Even if it looks “wrong” on the meter. Even if it’s different from our reference track.

Those types of mindset upgrades are some of the most valuable bits that come up in discussions with producers in our mentorship program.

And I’ve decided to make that available to more of you without requiring everyone to join that big, in-depth 1:1 program.
