In all my years in the business of cartooning for The New Yorker, I have met wonderful cartoonists, many have become close friends. The world of New Yorker cartoonists has historically been a small one; when I started contributing regularly in the early 1980’s, there were maybe 40 regular cartoonists. In the last two years, the number of cartoonists who have sold to The New Yorker has grown exponentially. Making my film Women Laughing has been a great chance to spend time with fellow cartoonists. Some of the women in the film I have known for years, and have enjoyed those friendships immensely. Some are newer friends, and the events we have scheduled around the film have allowed me to get to know them. We are having a screening in the Philadephia area this week, and two of my colleagues will be there, Maggie Larson and Bishakh Som. Here are examples of their wonderful work. First Bishakh’s: And these are a few samples of Maggie’s drawings: Here is a link to register, the event is free! Thanks, hope to see you! Below is more information.
