The FBI is offering a US$1-million reward for information leading to the arrest of Satinderjeet Singh, the Indian gangster better known as Goldy Brar, for his alleged involvement with a group accused in a rash of violent crimes and extortions in Canada and the U.S., including the assassination of B.C. Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Mr. Singh, who has ties to Canada, southern California and Mexico, was named in a federal indictment filed in U.S. court in July and has remained a fugitive ever since. He’s often described as the North American lieutenant to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, an India-based crime group headed by his childhood friend.

U.S. prosecutors say one of the “overt acts” he’s accused of is arranging the murder of Mr. Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader who was gunned down in Surrey, B.C. in 2023. Mr. Nijjar’s supporters, as well as Canadian national security sources, have maintained his death appeared to be a contract hit ordered by the Indian government.

India denies any involvement in the shooting. Canada declared the Bishnoi gang a terrorist group in 2025.
