Hundreds of Surf Cams. All Free

Surf cams have a complicated history. Since the first one went up on Huntington Beach Pier in 1996, surfers have loved them, hated them, and occasionally taken one out with a rock.

So here's what we haven't done: we haven't installed a single camera.

Every cam on Surf-Forecast was already running before we linked to it. Some are run by locals, like the livestream off a hostel balcony at Supertubes. Others are run by lifeguards and councils, like Randwick City Council's beach safety network on Sydney's Eastern Beaches.

They belong to the people who run them, so we link straight to them and never charge. No paywall, no catch.

We found them, tested them, and put a cam button right next to your forecast on the website and in the app. Hundreds of breaks already have one, and we add more every week.

"The forecast tells you what the swell should do. It doesn't know who's already in the water, or what the bank's been doing since the last storm. The cams fill that gap."
Rob Davies, Chief Forecaster, Surf-Forecast

Every cam, on one map.

Want to see what's running near you, or somewhere you'd rather be? Our new cam map shows every webcam we link to, worldwide. Zoom in, tap a pin, and you're watching the break.

Whose cameras, exactly, and where

We've got webcam links from Huntington to Hossegor, Hawaii and beyond.

Huntington Beach. This is where surf cams started, and you get two angles: one from Lifeguard HQ and one straight off the pier.

At Hossegor and Capbreton, choose between La Nord and La Gravière , or look out over the harbour at Santosha and La Piste. That's useful, because these beachbreaks turn on and off with the flutter of a butterfly's fart.

And beyond. Hawaii, Spain, New Jersey, South Africa, Peru. Wherever you surf, there's a good chance there's a cam.

Check the forecast, tap the cam, then make the call.

Run a cam near a break?

If a camera near a break isn't on the map yet, tell us about it, and we'll take a look.
