It wasn't hooroo from Pinnaroo, instead it was a big hello! Two of our biggest stories last week centred around the Mallee town.
Reporter Oliver Brown, who recently joined our team after four years at the ABC Broken Hill office, was on the ground in Pinnaroo. He was hearing about how the town felt about the standing down of a long-time ambulance officer volunteer. You can read the full story on that below.
While there, Oliver also met with locals who explained the impacts of pigeons. Pigeons have been an issue for a long time in the town but have become more problematic recently.
Rural reporter Eliza Berlage told the story of Jack Papageorgiou this week. He has dedicated many years of his life to advocate for the wine grape industry and has decided to call it a day and retire.
Jack has been generous over the years, giving the ABC so much of his time. He has been vulnerable and shared the highs and the lows of farming, making sure farmers voices have been heard. We wish Jack all the best for his retirement alongside his wife, Poppy (pictured), after some very tough years on the block.
Have a great week, be kind and remember, our inbox is open for your story ideas or community notices, 1062@your.abc.net.au.
