Alaska AirlinesAmerican Airlines, Delta Air LinesJetBlue AirwaysSouthwest Airlines and United Airlines have extended rebooking waivers for flights through Los Angeles area airports as wildfires continue to affect the region. Some flights into the Burbank airport have been canceled or diverted, but Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has been largely unaffected.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) published a final rule on the enforcement of REAL ID requirements. Beginning on May 7, 2025, REAL ID-compliant ID’s, or another acceptable form of identification will be required for domestic flights. "We are committed to engaging with the public, licensing jurisdictions and states to facilitate a smooth transition to REAL ID enforcement," TSA Administrator David Pekoske said.

American Airlines is offering baseball fans additional flight options to Arizona and Florida with more than 100 destinations flying to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) for Cubs and Rangers fans. Meanwhile, the airline is making it easier for travelers to attend ball games in Florida with more than 660 peak-day departures across the state.

Alaska Airlines is adding 10 seasonal routes this month, with flights starting between Jan. 6 and Jan. 25. Four of the routes originate in Sacramento, Calif., and four offer service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Delta Air Lines and Airbus will collaborate on advancing aviation technologies, focusing on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), innovative flight techniques that improve efficiency and next-generation aircraft design. Delta will test Airbus' "fellow'fly"technique, which mimics the flight of migrating geese, flying aircraft in pairs to improve fuel efficiency.
