Sustainable Mobility Solutions
The US Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration has awarded more than $635 million in grants across 49 projects for electric vehicle charging and other alternative fueling infrastructure, funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The grants aim to enhance accessibility across 27 states, four Native Americans territories and the District of Columbia, creating 11,500 EV charging ports and seven "corridor" fast-charging projects.

LG Energy Solution has partnered with Aptera Motors to exclusively supply high-efficiency cylindrical batteries for Aptera's solar electric vehicles. This is part of a three-way collaboration that includes CTNS for battery module and pack manufacturing. LG will supply Aptera with 2170 battery cells, featuring advanced safety technology, over 6 years from 2025 to 2031.

Outgoing Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall has warned that the US must dramatically expand the Space Force to counter China and Russia, emphasizing the need for significant growth in space-based capabilities, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. "The future of war is highly automated, highly autonomous," Kendall said in a report to Congress. "The ability of the entire joint force to project power depends upon our success in space."

Federal policies have helped lead to a surge in US electric vehicle manufacturing, with $197.6 billion invested in the last decade, roughly two-thirds of which came after the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The Environmental Defense Fund and WSP USA report highlights that these investments have resulted in 57 operational facilities and over 50,000 jobs, with another 100 projects under construction.
