Believe it or not, there is at least one politician on the progressive left who believes it’s permissible to fire a government employee. Adding to the controversy, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass seems to have settled on an alleged contributing factor to wildfire destruction that is entirely unrelated to climate change. Dakota Smith, Julia Wick and David Zahniser report for the Los Angeles Times: Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has fired Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley over the chief’s handling of the Palisades fire. “Acting in the best interests of Los Angeles’ public safety, and for the operations of the Los Angeles Fire Department, I have removed Kristin Crowley as Fire Chief,” Bass said in a statement Friday. “We know that 1,000 firefighters that could have been on duty on the morning the fires broke out were instead sent home on Chief Crowley’s watch.” “Furthermore, a necessary step to an investigation was the President of the Fire Commission telling Chief Crowley to do an after action report on the fires. The Chief refused. These require her removal,” Bass continued. The former chief for her part had blamed the mayor’s budgeting. The Times reminds:
