Jessica Maier is Professor of Art History at Mount Holyoke College. An Italian Renaissance specialist, she holds degrees from Columbia and Brown Universities and has received prestigious fellowships from the American Academy in Rome, Villa I Tatti in Florence, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Her articles have appeared in premier journals such as The Art Bulletin and Renaissance Quarterly, and she has published two books on the mapping of Rome with the University of Chicago Press. Her third book, Contested Places: Cartography, Conflict, and the News in Early Modern Europe, is nearing completion.
