Hey there,

Just wanted to share a quick moment of behind-the-scenes chaos from last night—maybe you’ve been there too?

It always happens like this: I'm on track to finish the new shocks on the car, a 3D print queued up, Fusion 360 design almost done, or ready to finish a video recording.

And then… full-on suffer fest.

The fancy new screen recording software that has been working really well. Wouldn’t record the screen. Kept failing. And once it finally did work, my brain didn’t. I couldn’t focus, couldn’t explain anything clearly, and just felt completely off. After a long stretch of wrestling with it, I gave up and called it a night.

Here’s the strange part:
The Next Morning... Everything just works. No glitches, no mental fog. Smooth sailing.

So now I’m wondering…

Why does this happen?

  1. Is it just cognitive fatigue?
After a full day, is my brain just running on empty—especially when I need clarity and focus the most?
  2. Am I just more fragile at night?
Why does a small issue suddenly feel like a crisis when it’s late? Is my emotional resilience just totally worn out?
  3. Does my brain actually work on this stuff overnight?
Could it be that things “click” in the morning because my subconscious has been quietly solving problems while I sleep?
  4. Are technical gremlins real?
Why does turning something off and back on—or walking away for a few hours—suddenly fix it? Does gear somehow behave better after a break?

It’s wild how often this cycle plays out. Anyway, figured I’d share. If you’ve had your own late-night spirals into “why is nothing working,” just know you’re not alone.

Hope your projects are cooperating better than mine were last night :)
