MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD

BREAKFAST - Friday, 4/25

April is the Month of the Military Child, and we're excited to celebrate our amazing "Penguin" students who are part of military families!

We are working hard to recognize and honor these special students throughout the month. You may have noticed their names displayed on the front railings and their pictures in the main lobby hallway.  We will also present our military-connected students with a special certificate and host a breakfast at the end of the month. These students will be honored and participate in both our April Whole School Morning Meetings.

There is also a world map located in the lobby hallway where ALL penguins can put a sticker on the places they have lived. Get a sticker from the front office so we can see “Where Our Penguins Waddled From!”

read-a-thon

Get Ready for Read-A-Thon

Register your Child Today!

April 21 - May 5

Head over to the Franconia PTA site to get your reader set up and ready to go!

Your child can win lunch with Mr. Smith, Mrs. Nyland, or even Mrs. Vandersande!

Don't forget to ask your neighbors, friends, businesses, and family to support your child with a donation.  The money raised will go directly to the Franconia PTA and be used for playground enhancements, field trips, additional water filling stations, and more!

If we reach our goal of $15,000, we'll pull out the slime once again!

Stay tuned for more!

The PTA Needs Your Help!

If you're interested in volunteering to help with the Read-A-Thon this year, please reach out to the PTA President to sign up.  We need as many volunteers as possible!

PTA News and Updates

Call for PTA Board Elections!

It’s that time of year again!  The PTA is looking for dedicated volunteers to shape our school community by serving on next year’s PTA Board.

We invite all interested parents and guardians to submit nominations for open positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

Joining the board is a fantastic way to have a direct impact on our students’ school experience while connecting with fellow families.

If you or someone you know would be a great fit, please email your nomination to Brian Smith by May 1, 2025.

Together, we can continue to make our school an exceptional place for all students!

matilda

"MATILDA" at Twain MS

April 24 - 26

Matilda is a story about a young girl named Matilda Wormwood, who has an incredible intellect and magic powers, including the ability to levitate objects. She is a lover of books and can read stories meant for adults by the age of four.

Her clear intelligence goes unnoticed by her uncaring family, who often treat her badly.  Eventually, her insensitive parents send her to a school run by Miss Trunchbull, a cruel authoritarian that loathes children.  Matilda befriends her school teacher, Miss Honey.

Field Day - Monday, June 2, 2025

Its that time of year again!!!  This year we are planning to do a water theme as there will be a lot of water games to get us prepped for the Summer season!!!

Below is the QR Code for the Franconia Field Day sign up form. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to work all day from start to finish and if that doesn’t work for you, we are also looking for those who would be willing to work either the K-2 field day in the morning or the 3-6 field day slot in the afternoon.

We are also in need of quite a few items for this year. I am looking for car sponges, dish sponges, a TON of water ballons, popsicles, and some extra yoga/exercise balls.

The shirts are in the process of being finalized and when they are ready will be available to be ordered. We are looking to make this Field Day our biggest one yet!

Thank you,

Mr. Harris - PE teacher
